Here on day 8 of your ten day marathon, it is time to talk about the wobble.
You are probably going to default back to old behaviour a few times before a new boundary truly sticks. That is not failure. That is how change actually works.
Your brain is wired to return to what is familiar. The old pattern has been the norm for a long time. A new boundary needs repetition before it becomes the new normal. Until it does, the old pull will still be there.
So today, cut yourself some slack. This is about progress, not perfection.
Think of a moment, even during this marathon, when you defaulted back to an old pattern instead of holding a new boundary.
What would it sound like to speak to yourself about that wobble with compassion instead of judgment?
This is what compassion sounds like.
What you told yourself instead of judgment
Wobble, then keep going.
Today’s move: the next time you wobble today or any day, say to yourself, “this is progress, not perfection.” Then keep going.
