Boundary Marathon · Day 2 of 10
Food for Thought
As you begin setting healthier boundaries over these ten days, expect discomfort. That discomfort is not a sign that something is wrong.
In fact, discomfort is usually a sign of something right, new behaviour. Any new behaviour feels hard before it becomes easy. Think about the last time you learned something new, it felt clumsy and effortful at first. However, with repetition it became second nature.
Boundaries work exactly the same way. The discomfort you feel when you say no, or hold a line you have not held before, is not proof you are doing something wrong. It is proof you are doing something different. Different feels uncomfortable long before it feels natural.
So today, you are not aiming to feel comfortable. You are aiming to expect the discomfort, and move through it anyway.
