GRIT in Five — Day 23
Letting Go · Part 2

Letting go of needing things to be a specific way is honestly one of the most liberating feelings in the world.

If you have labelled yourself a perfectionist, you are going to find today revolutionary. If not, do not worry, you are still going to have just as much fun.

As we enter part two of this mini series on letting go, today we are going to make mistakes on purpose.

Something like putting two different socks on and allowing it to be, or sending a typo off by mistake without fixing it. Remember, it all starts with noticing.

Take a moment to reflect on how difficult it is for you to make mistakes.

When you make a mistake, are you the kind of person who goes “oh dear” and moves on, or do you replay it over and over in your head? Do you jump into fixing it immediately? What do you do?

Think about the last time you made a mistake. What was it?
Don’t worry, nobody is going to read this. It’s for your eyes only.
How did it feel, on a scale of one to ten, when you realized you’d made a mistake?
5
1 · Nothing10 · Terrible
How much of your precious time and energy did you waste on replaying this mistake, wishing it were different?
Your Reflection
Letting Go · Part 2
Today’s move: choose at least two of these and make a mistake on purpose, or make up one of your own.
Wear two odd socks and leave them, on purpose.
Send a text or email with a typo in it and don’t go back to fix it.
Leave the bed unmade today.
Say “I don’t know” instead of guessing, just to seem right.
Post or send something without re-reading it three times first.
Part Two, Done.

See you tomorrow for part three.
