GRIT in Five — Day 20
Food for Thought

Your mind is going to think intrusive thoughts. That is simply what minds do, it is not a reflection of who you are or what you actually want.

When an intrusive thought comes in, which it will, there are some things we do automatically which do not help. In fact, they make the situation worse.

What do you do?

Today is about a different way of relating to this. Not fighting them, not arguing with them, not trying to force them out.
1
Acknowledge
Notice the thought is there. Do not push it away.
2
Label it
Give it a name. “That’s an anxious thought.” “That’s a worry thought.”
3
Let it exist
You do not have to fight it or fix it. Just let it be there.
4
Watch it pass
Picture it as a cloud drifting overhead. It will pass on its own.
I commit to noticing and doing the full step process today.
