All day long, things happen that we wouldn’t choose and don’t like. Traffic. Somebody’s tone of voice. A long list of things to do. We call these things triggers. These little things get under our skin and shift our mood. Never underestimate what being triggered constantly does to your day and to your quality of life overall.
Which of these get under your skin?
Tap every single one that genuinely gets to you. Be honest, nobody sees this but you.
Traffic, or being stuck behind a slow driver
Somebody’s tone of voice
Being interrupted mid sentence
A long list of things still to do
Your phone buzzing nonstop
Someone running late
A messy space you didn’t create
Being talked over
Waiting in a queue
Slow wifi or a loading screen
Someone cancelling on you last minute
Being asked if you’re okay when you’re clearly not
A comment that felt like a jab
Not being heard the first time you said something
Autocorrect changing your words
Someone chewing loudly nearby
A notification right when you’re trying to focus
Being told to just relax
Plans changing at the last minute
Someone taking credit for something you did
Today’s move: notice when something small happens that gets under your skin. Say, “it happened. I can’t change it.” Then move on.
2 days in a row! Incredible!
Remember, showing up for yourself is no little thing.
